Washington DC
From Hersey, PA we traveled to Washington, DC. I had never been there, so it was a must on my bucket list. Bob was here some 40 years ago and wanted to revisit some of the items. We got into Cherry Hill RV Park just after noon, so we went ahead and drove over to the New National Air and Space Museum out near Dulles Airport. It was great with lots of large airplanes tracing the first planes to current. On Tuesday, we went to DC from Cherry Hill by bus to the College Park Metro Station. The trains are the way to go visit DC. We spent the entire day just doing the Monuments and Arlington Cemetary.
On Thursday, we went to the Zoo. They had some good exhibits, but after going to zoos around the US, it needs to be updated. The orangutans were entertaining on the O-line that stretched across the zoo.
This was one of the Panda's 12th Birthday, so he was enjoying a frozen treat. He was great to watch. They have three panda's, but only one was out. It was in the high 80's, so most of the animals were smart to stay out.
Above is the Washington Monument. This picture is taken from the FDR memorial. This was was an interesting trip into our history. The sculptures were fantastic.
The next day, we did the Smithsonians, at least a few of them anyway. We decided that there was no way to see all of them so we spent 4 hours in the Museum of Natural History, then on to the Museum of American History. Didn't spent so much time there since we had done so much of the history of the different wars several years ago. I really wanted to have time at the National Museum of the American Indian. This only opened in 2004 and I was looking forward to it. I was really disappointed since there was sooo.. much noise with all the exhibits seeming to overlap. Also, there was so much glass, that the glare gave me a headache. I wish it had been organized differently. It seemed to jump around from Alaska, then to South America, then to Canada and only some of the US Indians.
Later, we walked up the steps of the Capitol and went to the Botanical Gardens.

The cute baby gorilla didn't wander very far from Mom.
Glad we went, but it was 3 full days of walking. Glad to get back to the rig to relax at night.
Today, we're in Washington, PA just for the evening and then over to TT in Jefferson OH for several days and then back to Wooster to see Don and Harolyn.
