Bar Harbor, the second time around

Well, now that we're back in the states, we headed to Bar Harbor, hopefully with enough pretty weather to hike and get out in. It was still overcast some, but no rain and good hiking weather. We got there on Tuesday, early afternoon and since it was sunny decided to drive up to Cadillac Mtn. Then since we hadn't planned on hiking, Bob decided we needed a little walk for exercise. Cadillac Mtn. is the highest mountain in Acadia Ntl. Park. We headed out with no water, tennis shoes instead of boots. I did have a hat in the car. It turned out to be a 4 mile walk that you had to find handholds and foot holds on the rock faces to climb up and down. This short walk took 4.5 hours. But as you can see, the view as worth it.

Above is a boat we had seen in Cape Breton. It was docked in Bar Harbor.
At the side is part of the trail we were on.

Be sure and double click on the panaramic view.

The next day, we took what they call a moderate trail. We started just above the beach and hiked to Gorham Mtn. and down the gulleys to Champlain Mtn. Bob's here at Champlain. This was a 5 miles and took right at 5 hours. If you look at the last blogs, some of the 10 mile hikes only took 5 hours and were considered moderate. We still had to have hand holds and foot holds in places.

The last morning there, we took another Kayak trip. We enjoyed it, but there wasn't as much to see and the guide wasn't that good. I wish we would've just rented the kayaks and explored on our own.
Today, Sunday, August 16th, we heading for the 1st Thousand Trails Park we've been it since May. Looking forward to seeing John and Pat Irwin.
