Well, it's been awhile since my last blog. It's New Year's Eve and I decided to bring things up to date. After leaving Washington, we went to San Diego to play Pickleball in the San Diego State Senior games. After a little over a week there, we headed to St. George, Utah for the Huntsmen World Senior Games. Spent 3 weeks there before we went to Happy Trails. The 1st week of November was the Nationals out at Sun City Festival. We didn't play, just helped put it on. Some very long long days. Back into the groove with all our friends. Next tournament was the Sun City Grand Skill Level Tournament. I played, but Bob only helped put it on. That was November 17-19th. On Saturday, November 20th, we put on the West Valley Senior Games. It was only one day, but a lot of fun and long. Thanksgiving we shared our meal with 300 or so other people in the Ballroom and then over to NC1 for desserts with 20 or 30 of our closest friends. On Monday, Nov 29th, we worked our first

La Conner Pickleball

Well, the last two weeks were spent in La Conner, Washington with lots of pickleball friends. We had Happy Hours every night and a pot luck on Thursday. Probably 60 people at the pot luck. Play was great with old and new friends. There were players from Canadian and Arizona and those that live both places. Old friends from our past, Ken and Faye Ewbanks were there. Carolyn and John Davis showed up just to visit for the day and Prem and Don Coats were there for a couple of days. We hadn't seen these friends in 5 to 6 years. Really like old times. We need to thank Charles and Jackie West for organizing this event again this year. For more pictures go to my Face Book page.

Crabbin in Birch Bay

Most of the week was just normal things, pickleball at Unruh's and visiting Bob's Mom in Snohomish and making my jewelry. Then on Friday, we went out with Zoe and Chuck Coplin on their boat to pick up crabs. We didn't get our limit, but did have a beautiful day on the water. We did get a some crabs as you can see. Afterward, we had dinner at the Coplins. More fun with good friends.

On Thursday, July 8th, we moved on to Tall Chief RV Resort outside of Fall city, Wa. This made us closer to all the indoor Pickleball. Let's see, we played at Bitterlake, Meadowbrook, Mercer Island, and Lakewood during our week here. Had a great time, and some great play. We saw lots of friends. Next we're back to Thurderbird in Monroe for family business. On Sunday and Monday, 18th and 19th, we helped Jen and Craig put down laminate flooring in their kitchen, den and living room. Great spending so much time with the family. Did make it back to Bitterlake for some more play. From Monroe, we moved to the Elks at Lakewood for the Washington Senior Games. I played with Betty Silver, and Bob played with Dennis Duey. I also played with Dennis in Mixed Doubles. We got and earned the Bronze. Lela and Mark took gold with Mitzu and Lance taking Silver. Bob and Suzie Walls came to watch the games and had the Silver's, the Duey's and us over for hamburgers after the games. On

Headed to Washington

We got to Washington on July 1st, after spending 2 nights at the Spokane Elks' with Tom and Linda Harvey. In Thunderbird, we discovered that Pete and Toni Boehme. Toni had recently had her knee replacement so wasn't out and about much. They will be staying in this area as much as possible for therapy. Went and visited Bob's Mom. She's doing great and actually recognized us. She had misplaced her lower dentures so we now have the task of getting replacements. On Saturday, we went out to Hat Island with Craig (Bob's nephew) and his family. Craig, Jen and the kids, Hayden, Abby, and Grace are doing great. We had a beautiful day and a lot of fun.

Continuing On

On Monday, June 26, we went to Whitefish, Montana. Vance and Donna Christensen have a great court in their backyard. Linda and Tom Harvey, Linda and Owen and some other friends played for several hours. It was a great time.

Kalispell, MT

Saturday, June 26th we left Glacier and went to Kalispell, Mt. Owen was in an Extreme Cowboy Competition there. He took 1st, 2nd, and 4th. The same competition course on different horses. He was great. We really enjoyed this. It was different that anything we had seen. It's sort of an obstacle course that shows the ability of the rider and the horse and how well the horse is trained. Afterward, Tom and Linda came over to the Elks with us while Linda and Owen took the horses back and changed. We all went out to eat and then to the rig to play Hand and Foot. The men actually won. On Sunday, we headed out to Linda and Owen's house for some 4 wheeling. Had a great time. We saw plenty of signs of moose, but no moose. The countryside was beautiful with all the flowers in bloom. We stopped for drinks and snacks over looking Ashley Lake. Tom and Linda Linda and Owen Owen, Linda, Linda, Tom & Bob

Friday, Grinnell Glacier

Image
Thursday, we took it easy and rested. Hiking the two days before wore us out. After the day off, we were ready for a long hard hike, so we headed out to Grinnell Glacier. However, we had to stop two miles short of our goal and about 500 ft lower. We still had a great 6 almost 7 miles round trip and 1100 ft elevation gain hike with beautiful views and lots of animals. We also saw A Grizzly Mom and Cubs Bob on trail Me on trail Rams and Goats on cliffs above us The Waterfall below is from a distance. We watched it grow in size until we got to the top.
