Now Nova Scotia

Well, we left St. John's, NL and traveled 12 hours across the island to get to Port Aux Basques, got there around 8:30 pm on July 30th. Then we waited in line to exchange our tickets (we received a refund for the cancelled ferry ride from Argentia and didn't have to pay for this ferry crossing at all). Around 11:30 pm, we got back to our rig and left at 3:00 am.

Arriving in North Sydney at 10:00 am, we headed to the KOA approximately 15 miles from the ferry. All we did after that was rest.

It was the first day since Texas, that we have had to turn on the air conditioner. We finally have summer. It was beautiful on Friday, but too tired to enjoy it.

Of course, during the night the rain came in and when we got up on Saturday, rain! But we wanted to see Louisbourg, so we headed out. This is a National Historic Site that reflects the history of the French and English fighting over this area for control of the fishing industry.

The people dress in periodic and depict the life of the soldiers and civilians during the 18th century.
Above is the Entry and to the left is the lighthouse. This is a replacement, but Louisbourg was the site of the first lighthouse in Canada.

On the right is some of the cast walking the geese to their pen.
The day turned out to be sometimes sunny and then rainy, so we were able to really see everything and enjoy the day.
On Sunday, the day was beautiful. I got up to walk and check out the wild blueberries and raspberries growing in and around the park. I picked enough for my dessert. The wild ones are not near as big, but still sweet and good. I'll be picking more as we travel futher south.
After that, we took a Puffin Boat Tour ride. On the water in shorts! We haven't been this warm all summer. We did see Puffins, but not near as close up as we did in NL., but seals, seals, and more seals. Also, the only eagles we've seen so far. (except one we saw on the side road we explored before we went on the trip.) Below, and to the side, you will see only a few of the great pictures that we were able to get. It was fabulous.
