Catching up on Star Valley

It’s been a couple of weeks, but we’re still here in Star Valley and spending time hiking and kayaking and of course, pickleball!   We’ve had no rain for 3 or 4 weeks, and has been hot until 3 days ago.  Now we’re back to normal with mostly beautiful morning and rain in the evening and/or night.  However, today is a rain day and time to get caught up on things in the house.

I left you after our hike where we saw the beavers, the next hike was on June 25th, Lost Creek trail.  Great hike, several water crossings, and beautiful flowers.

On Friday, (designated kayak day), we headed out with to the Palisades Marsh area again.  The rivers are still running a little high for us.  It was another beautiful day with friends. and birds.

On July 3rd, we the kayak group ventured out to the Salt River.  We had 13 adventurous kayakers.  There were a few rapids, and some low water.  I got stuck on the rocks along with a fellow kayaker.  Bob was trying to come to my rescue and ended up breaking the blade off the end of his paddle.  So trying to maneuver the rapids, ended up under a tree and dumped. I had already freed myself from the rocks so chased down his shoes and the remaining portion of his oar. Too busy for pictures.  But here are some in the calmer waters.

On the 7th of July, Bob and I ventured out to hike Strawberry Creek.  This is a beautiful hike with lots and lots of flowers and probably one of the easiest hikes of the area.  It has to be considered a moderate hike, because of the distance (9.6 miles) and because of the rocks and some creek crossings.  The only reason we stopped short of 10 miles was that at 4.75 miles out, we couldn’t find a way across the 4th water crossing.

The other days have been spent with friends on the pickleball courts, happy hours and pot lucks.  We have a good crew of competitive players. Met new friends and old friends alike. I am really blessed to be able to live this lifestyle.
