August in Star Valley

After the tournament, we took a couple of days to get back organized with no entertaining of guests and to go shopping in Idaho Falls.  It’s about 80 miles for a trip to get supplies for the month of August and hopefully the last trip before we leave here in the middle to end of Sept.  Then, we had to fly to St. Louis for a funeral. Bob’s aunt passed away. We were gone from Aug 6th – 8th.  Good trip, Bob saw cousins that he had not seen since he was around 11 years old.  I had never met most of these relatives.  Everyone appreciated that we had taken the time to go. After we got back, we tried to start our hiking and kayaking again, so here is the latest.  Aug 10th, Swift Creek.  This was written up to be a hard hike, but really wasn’t as bad as we thought.  It was a beautiful hike as always, but not near as steep.   In my last blog, Nadine, Mike and us had gone to the Periodic Falls.  This is a picture of that from up above on the trail.  It was gorgeous. However, we’re now having a couple of rainy days and I’m getting caught up, not only on the blog, but paperwork, etc.  I left you with Kayaking on the 7th of July.   On the 10th, we decided to try the Idaho side of the street. This is almost literal, Idaho is less than a mile across Hwy 89.  We went up to Tin Cup Mountain.  This is said to be named for a group of traders that when a child was kidnapped by the Indians, the only thing the Indians would take in trade for the child was a tin cup. The flowers were beautiful, but the mountain showers and the mosquitos had us cut the trip short.           Of course, Bob and I do all the hikes for the beauty and hopefully to see animals. Of course where do you see them and do you have your camera with you? On the road on the way to the Alpine Ace Hardware.  Two bull moose in the Marsh
