Jacobs Lake & North Rim
We’re finally on the road again. We left Surprise on Tuesday with temps around 110 and moved up to Jacobs Lake at the National Forest Campground. No hookups, but clean and convenient for touring the area. We can’t hike yet due to Bob’s toes (another 2 or 3 weeks until full flexibility returns) and since I had shots in my back, I’m supposed to wait a couple of weeks before exercising. Above is Jacobs Lake that is actually just a pond now. We did the tourist thing and went to Pipe Springs National Monument. It was really interesting since it was the history of how the Mormons captured the springs for themselves and cut off the spring to the Paiute Indians that were there. This was built as a fort to not only protect them from the Indians, but to protect them from the US Government.
